Manual Machinist

Role

As a Machinist (also known as a Machine Operator, Manual Machinist), you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual machines to repair parts for industrial pumps, gearboxes, and mechanical seals. You will also perform the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of industrial pumps and gearboxes. This role also includes acting as the shop specialist in line-boring on the horizontal mill and performing preventative and predictive maintenance on shop equipment.

Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 10+ years of experience operating manual machines (i.e. lathes, boring mills).
  • 10+ years of experience operating a horizontal mill for line-boring.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as: calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals.
